mock-Tudor edifice in RegentÆs Street was built in 1925 to house the collection of oriental silks that Arthur Lasenby Liberty had been selling to the likes of John Ruskin and other artists since the 1870s. However, the stylistic connotation comes from
the designs made specially for Liberty by William Morris and other members of the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th and early 20th century. The shop has maintained strong links with both that period and the East: on the basement there is an Orie
ntal Bazaar, and on the top floor, a rich collection of period Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts furniture.
